Spies in Disguise movie director: Nick Bruno, Troy Quane
Spies in Disguise movie rating: 2.5 stars
One of the oldest known spies in the world; And one of the best places in the world. We are talking here about Pigeons and Will Smith, who are one and the same person in Detective in Disguise. In this animation of Blue Sky Studios, it is a clever base – and one of many – Ice Age producers now acquired by Disney. The film itself is more run-of-the-mill than unique, though the idea above and the chemistry between the characters Smith and Holland wrote (an inspired choice to play the sci-fi geek and gadgets boy) meant that It all goes down better than it should.
Smith is Lance Sterling, the “greatest detective in the world”, used to defy orders and save the world, all on his own. Then comes a big villain, a big plot and Sterling finds himself out in the cold. He is the only person who can turn to Walter of Holland, who believes in non-violent weapons, such as Kitty Glitter (more on that later) and inflatable hugs, and promises Sterling the power to be “invisible”. Have done What Stirling turns into is a pigeon.
Even disappointing you that the film will end another confrontation between the forces of good and evil – do we really need them in animation as well? – and the power of teamwork and friendship, with writer Brad Copeland and directors Nick Bruno and Troy Kane changing the genre. All the mega-hit chest-puffed characters Smith has played throughout his career are not funny, not even half of it, as his sidekick Walter rolls his superpower, it’s science. In the process, he makes a big score for all those “weird” boys who make fun of wearing aprons and dreaming that, for every James Bond, there may be a hero named ‘Hydrogen Bond’.
If science needs every such thumb in the Trump administration, there is also a message on America’s continued arbitration in world affairs. The villain attacked the US bombing in Kyrgyzstan this time – in Sterling’s words, they were after “a group of bad guys to kill a lot of innocent people”.
Walter’s way is that much more can be accomplished with love than hatred, and people can be let live more by killing. Greater people than him have said this, but no one with Kitty Glitter to back them up. A glimpse, and the worst of the best villains, is reduced to moose. Walter’s explanation is that it has been scientifically proven that the release of serotonin may occur from seeing such kittens. This is a real scientific fact.
