Pandab Goenda: Bengali television to have yet another detective show

Nothing can beat the thrill of a detective story. Readers or the audience feel an immense amount of satisfaction when the detective cracks a mystery using even a tiny bit of clue left by the mastermind of a ‘perfect crime scene’.Well, needless to say, ‘Aaam Bangalis’ have a special appetite for detective stories that have an intelligent detective who can crack a ‘perfect crime scene’ using his or her ‘magajastra’. Be it Feluda, Byomkesh Bakshi or Kiriti, Bengali literature has very efficient detectives who can give a tough competition to any highly gadget equipped agent using only their ‘magajastra’. Well, keeping Bangalis love for detective stories in mind, a new teen detective show is set to start its journey from today (September 7). Eminent writer Sasthipada Chattopadhyay’s very popular series has been adapted for the TV show ‘Pandab Goenda’. Five teenagers and their 4-legged friends will take the audience on new adventures.

The show will star a young and fresh cast which includes Rob Dey, Sreetama Mitra, Anumita Dutta, Rishabh Chakraborty and Mayukh Chatterjee.

Bengali television has seen a number of detective series till date. TV series ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ has already entertained the audience. Indrani Halder starrer ‘Goyenda Ginni’ was very popular among the audience, too. ‘Jay Kali Kalkattawali’ and ‘Aloukik Na Loukik’ also had a similar flavour. Now the small screen is set to have yet another detective TV show. ‘Pandab Goenda’ has been a part of almost every Bengali childhood. The stories were also published in ‘Pujo Barshiki’.

Interestingly, the second promo of ‘Pandab Goenda’, reportedly received negative remarks for showing a love-angle between two characters of the story. The channel had to edit the part later. It will be interesting to see how the new show fares on the TRP charts.
